20-Year Leader
Brechen has been a leader for 20 years with her primary role being Organizational Leader for Calico N Jeans. When she first began, there were 8 members enrolled in the club and over her years of involvement she cannot recall the last time it was under 40 youth. Brechen loves watching youth develop into leaders and seeing the way that 4-H has shaped career pathways. She stays motivated by being able to watch youth transform from shy, introverts into confident leaders. The most important aspect of being a leader to her is building relationships and teaching the value of serving within a community and the growth that comes through these interactions is what contributes to positive 4-H experiences for youth. Outside of 4-H she performs Zimbabwean music, playing a variety of instruments, walking, gardening and is involved with other organizations.
