The Weld County 4-H Foundation was established on June 29, 1954. It’s objective is to create a fund to be used for educational purposes, leadership programs and activities in which funds appropriated by the Congress of the United States, the Colorado General Assembly and the Weld County Board of Commissioners cannot be used. It is Weld County’s great fortune that leaders in the community had the foresight and planning in keeping projects funded. Generous people and organizations were willing to give so that the Foundation could be created.
The 4-H Mardi Gras Carnival is the Foundation’s major fundraiser. The current Board of Directors has designated unrestricted net assets to be set aside as an endowment type fund with the earnings to be used for various activities. Their main role is to budget and administrate funds to various designated programs. They also oversee the investments in marketable securities.
The Foundation is incorporated under the provisions of the Colorado Non-Profit Corporation Act under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
