Mayzie Helzer

Weld County 4H Foundation Scholarship

Mayzie is the daughter of Jeremy and Kim Helzer of LaSalle.  She is a senior at Eaton High School and is planning to attend IBMC in Greeley studying cosmetology and take small business classes to eventually become and owner of her own salon.  She believes her future career will achieve a very high level of self-worth for her. Knowing that she is very confident in what she knows she wants to do is very extraordinary that not many youths know. But she knows this is what she wants to do. Mayzie wants to impact the world positively by making connections and doing what she loves.

Mayzie is a 12-year member of Platte River Ag 4H Club.  During her time in 4H, she has been actively trying to make a difference in my community by volunteering at the food bank with her club, making tie blankets for her local fire department, and building strong relationships with peers who are interested in things she is. Participating in a wide variety of projects she has been in ranging from clothing to food, shotgun, and livestock, the opportunities she was given to be a leader and learn how to problem solve were priceless. Mayzie has never been so grateful for an organization in her life.  Being given all of the opportunities to be such a leader in 4H and the Weld County Fair Princess in 2019, gave her the chance to meet people from around the world. It even introduced her to the reason she wants to be a cosmetologist after she graduates. When she was the Princess she had the pleasure of interacting with many adults but mainly young girls and got to paint their nails, At the time Mayzie didn't realize why she loved it so much, but looking back at the connection she was able to build in the time it took to paint someone's nails, it shows her that she can make an impact on people with her future career and use the skills 4H has taught her and communicate with people of all ranges.

Mayzie is the recipient of the Weld County 4H Foundation Scholarship.
