Avery is the daughter of Troy and Amy Gray of Greeley. She is a senior at Eaton High School and is planning to attend college studying elementary education.  She has chosen to study Elementary Education and become a teacher to make a positive impact on the many students she would have the opportunity to teach. This profession can ignite minds, instill knowledge, and shape the future ever so slightly. Teachers all have the opportunity to inspire and empower young minds, fostering a love for learning that may last a lifetime. By creating a supportive and welcoming learning environment, teachers can help all students overcome their challenges and reach their full potential. No matter the subject it may be; history, math, or literature, the ability to witness the “aha” moments in students is beyond comparable. Having the chance to see the spark of curiosity and knowledge in their eyes and the development they will achieve is so rewarding.

Avery is a 10-year member of Galeton 4H Club.  She began her 4H journey in Swine, Cake Decorating, Scrapbooking, and Quilting. The project that was the most inspirational to her was Market Swine. While each project contributed to her growth, the Livestock Industry has given Avery many opportunities to learn and grow into who she is today. The importance of showing an animal well and correctly led her to a personal goal of doing well in the showmanship category. She always loved competing in showmanship and seeing growth in her ability to present her animal. Having your animal looking good on a show day doesn't just happen in the show ring. Raising show animals teaches one that there's a reason to wake up every morning because another life relies on them.  Avery has been involved in this industry for 10 years. She started as a shy little girl who would hide behind her mom when someone approached her.  Now she is outgoing and confident in herself. Avery has had the opportunity to meet amazing people and learn much more about how the livestock industry has changed and grown. She is beyond grateful for this opportunity to be a part of such an amazing industry, community, and she can't wait to see where it will take her in the future.

Amy is the recipient of the Weld County 4H Foundation Scholarship.
