Beef Excellence Committee Scholarship

Makennah is the daughter of Wendy and Jonathon Tucker of Briggsdale, CO.  She is a Junior at the Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK and is planning to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in both Ag Education and Animal Science.  She plans to become an ag teacher and FFA Advisor.  She hopes to coach her students to complete in and win many FFA competitions at the local, state, and National levels as well as win chapter awards.

Makennah was in 4-H for about 11 years with the Crow Creek 4H Club. Being in 4-H helped shape her into a better leader and citizen, and she learned to be helpful to the younger youth, respectful to each other, hardworking and willing to share knowledge with anyone who needs it.  Her greatest accomplishment through 4H was to be able to start her own show cattle herd which helped her learn responsibility, management, record keeping and many other thins to prepare her for her future.  Makennah’s cattle herd provides food for her family, food for others, show calves for her, and show calves to sell. From the meat and show calves she has sold, Makennah has been able to help pay for a portion of her college education thus far.

As an ag teacher and FFA advisor, Makennah’s goal is not only to educate students about agriculture but to create opportunities for them to engage and succeed. She hopes to build competitive teams for district, state, and national contests, allowing students to explore Career Development Events (CDEs) and Leadership Development Events (LDEs). These experiences will expose them to different careers in agriculture while they are still in high school, sparking interest in industry-related degrees and careers.

Makennah is incredibly passionate about becoming an educator and advocate for agriculture. She hopes her enthusiasm will inspire students to see the value in this industry and recognize the importance of protecting and advancing it for future generations. Agriculture needs strong, dedicated leaders, and she is eager to play her part in shaping the next generation of agricultural professionals.

Makennah is the recipient of the Beef Excellence Committee Award.
